The Greater Yellowstone big game migration project strives to provide reliable, up-to-date, contextual information on the seasonal movements of elk, deer, antelope, moose, bison, and bighorn sheep in Greater Yellowstone. Information is compiled from historical, scientific, and local sources to provide public officials, conservation professionals, and the public with knowledge to ensure effective management.

We support the goal of maintaining a healthy vibrant Greater Yellowstone. This includes protecting current big game migration routes and restoring those lost in previous decades. In the face of management challenges, such as the rapid increases of roads, urban growth, and natural gas development in Greater Yellowstone, it is critically urgent to find ways to maintain the movement of large mammals. This project offers a cooperative, information based strategy to help people build a shared vision for the management of big game migrations. It builds on the hard work and expertise of a diverse group of individuals and organizations, allowing the regional community to find common ground.
